Kiev-Sana
The Ukrainian army announced today the killing of two of its soldiers in the southeastern Donbas region.
RIA Novosti quoted the Ukrainian Armed Forces' Eastern Operational Tactical Group as saying in a statement that one of its soldiers was wounded by mortar shells and later died of his wounds, adding that a second soldier was killed in an explosive device explosion.
In April 2014, the Ukrainian authorities began a military operation against residents of the Republics of Donetsk and Lugansk, which unilaterally declared their independence, as an expression of their opposition to the coup that took place in Ukraine in February of the same year.
The Minsk agreements to end the conflict that erupted in April 2014 between the Ukrainian authorities and the Donetsk and Lugansk popular republics in Donbas provide for a ceasefire, withdrawal of heavy weapons from the front line between the two parties, and a constitutional reform in Ukraine with the enactment of a law granting legal status to regions currently under the control of Donetsk and Lugansk Private.
