US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will visit Israel next week and meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Benny Gantz, US online media Axios reported on Tuesday.
Lloyd Austin is the first minister in President Joe Biden's administration to visit Israel.
The Pentagon, which maintains an aura of secrecy around visits by the US Secretary of Defense for security reasons, has not confirmed the trip.

The two sides will discuss regional issues, and in particular security threats from Iran, Lebanon, and Syria, Axios said.
Israel is particularly concerned about the willingness of the Biden administration to enter into new negotiations with Iran to relaunch the multilateral agreement supposed to prevent Tehran from developing nuclear weapons.
