The Minister of Defense, Bnei Gantz, held an event this morning (Wednesday) to mark the tenth anniversary of the Iron Dome system together with Minister Amir Peretz, the head of the Planning Division, Maj. Gen. Tomer Bar, the commander of the Air Defense Brigade, Brigadier General Ran Kochav, Wall Manager at the Ministry of Defense Moshe Fattal and other senior officials.

The ceremony was also attended by Lt. Col. Maor Gabriel, who was the commander of the first battery to intercept a rocket exactly a decade ago. During the event, a status discussion was held on the new developments of the Iron Dome and the layout of the current array. 

Against the backdrop of the attack on the Iranian ship in the Red Sea, Ganz said: "These days we are preparing in front of various fronts - in the south, in the north, and also in the face of threats posed to us by Iran, either directly or indirectly by its missions in the Middle East.

"The State of Israel is the most powerful country in the region and it will remain so because of two things: because we have no choice and thanks to people like you, those who preceded you and those who will come after you, who bear this burden in such a good and significant way. We have 24/7, 365 day offensive systems. In a year and readiness to act in front of any arena, in front of any range and in any dimension of action that the IDF will require.

"In the end, a system was developed here that is the world leader in everything related to air defense in the relevant ranges, a system that shuts down one of us and for us one of the most serious threats and that is the fire threat to the civilian home front," he noted.

"Look around, you see a sea of ​​targets in our enemy's vision. The capability of this system and its quantity, and the capability of its members in the air defense families - magic wand, arrow and all the other arrays that join it, really give us unprecedented defense capability."
