In a dangerous limbo, this is how merchants in general feel but, more than anything, the gastronomic of bars and restaurants that are part of the nightlife and see the bad memories of 2020 return with places closed due to the

coronavirus

pandemic

and fall sales plummeting, limited to delivery and take-away.

In line with the controversial new restrictions promoted by the Government of Kicillof throughout the Province, the Municipality of

Quilmes has

already taken the first step in terms of limitations on the activity of bars and restaurants.

There, since the long Easter weekend, the mayor

Mayra Mendoza

decided to limit the operation of the main gastronomic centers even more than what was ordered by the Axel Kicillof government, which called for the closure of all activities between 2 and 6 o'clock. the morning.

In the areas of bars and restaurants of Quilmes centro, Bernal and San Francisco Solano, the Municipality reduced the hours from 19 to 0;

they must all close at midnight.

He also prohibited bars from serving indoors.

Only

the outdoor tables

on the sidewalk and the street

are enabled

, since in return they made the areas with the greatest activity pedestrianized, turning them into "gastronomic corridors".

The use of internal patios and terraces was excluded, as were dance venues and party rooms.

This measure - pedestrianization -, they explained, was taken with the aim of "promoting the promotion of the various culinary centers of the district" seeking to respect "the distance of two meters between tables and hygiene protocols."

In addition, to guarantee the functioning of the gastronomic corridors according to the defined scheme, the Municipality distributed traffic agents and policemen.

“We call for individual and collective responsibility.

And with the aim of enforcing all existing protocols and care, controls in bars and restaurants will be duplicated, ”they expressed from the Commune.

And they indicated that they do not rule out the application of fines and temporary closings for those who do not adhere to the modality.

From the Quilmeña intendancy they reported that this scheme would be maintained at least until the Buenos Aires government has new measures.

Lanusita and Las Lomitas on alert

Although they still work until 2AM and can use up to 50% of the capacity of their premises, in

Lanusita, Las Lomitas,

the two great

nighttime

poles in the southern suburbs, there is also concern.

They know that they are on the front line before each new restriction measure that is available or discussed by the Buenos Aires Government, in the face of the “second wave” of coronavirus infections.

The merchants agree on a diagnosis: they are not in a position to endure a new closure of activities like the one in 2020, when they had to go through

more than six months

without being able to attend more than telephone orders.

The fact is that, at the rate of contagion, there are more and more restrictions and fewer possibilities, and although each business is in constant communication with its respective Municipality, they warn of the possibility of new restrictive measures and prepare for the new wave of cases of covid-19.

In Lanusita and Las Lomitas there is concern about the new restrictions.

In

Lanús and Lomas de Zamora

, the time slot established by the Province was adjusted, and from 2 to 6 in the morning there is a cessation of activities which means a reduction of two hours for Lanusita -where the permit was to open until 4- and of three in Las Lomitas - it worked until 5-.

The reduction in opening and closing hours and the condition of not exceeding 50 percent of the capacity in stores, inevitably generated a significant drop in sales, which was also reflected in the reduction of personnel.

"We are very concerned because there

is talk of a closure at 22

, which would imply an almost total closure, since our stronghold is at night," Marcelo Gutiérrez, representative of the Gastronomic Chamber of Lanusita, anticipates.

And he adds: “The amount of jobs that can be lost with the new reforms cannot be ignored.

2,500 people work in the field directly at Lanús.

There must be an economic and contingency plan behind it.

We fear that more than 70 percent of gastronomic people could stay on the road ”.

In

Lomas de Zamora

the situation is similar.

The closing hours are strictly linked to the measure established by the provincial government: at 2 in the morning there should be no shops open.

To verify that no one violates the rules, municipal inspection agents tour the area and penalize those who do not comply with fines and closures.

“On the weekends there is a lot of movement, and during the last two business days of the week as well.

The problem is that we cannot fill the capacity for logical sanitary reasons.

In this way, it becomes impossible to cover all the debts, some of us have back wages, they are doing all they can and we are very afraid that everything will go backwards ”, explains Jeremías, an employee of a Las Lomitas bodegón.
