Juan Román Riquelme was summoned to an inquiry and this Thursday he must testify before the Justice for having allowed his son Agustín to enter the Bombonera in the Superclásico between Boca and River played on March 13 when the young man should have been serving quarantine for having returned from abroad and considered close contact with people infected with coronavirus.

The investigation request for father and son was dictated by Celsa Ramírez, a criminal, misconduct and misdemeanor prosecutor from Buenos Aires who began an investigation, ex officio, when the images of the now manager of Boca and the minor were made public.

As Juan Román Riquelme was second vice president of Boca Juniors

(he now occupies the first place),

he is charged with Omission of collections of the Contraventional Code.

The day before attending the stadium to see the Superclásico, the son of the idol Xeneize had returned to Argentina from Cancun, Mexico, after his graduate trip.

On the return flight and after preventive controls at the Ezeiza airport, 44 positive cases of coronavirus were detected, among them, Nicanor Santilli, the son of the Deputy Chief of Government of the city of Buenos Aires, Diego Santilli, and the journalist Nancy Pazos.

Agustín Riquelme's test was negative;

He had already contracted the disease in 2020

and that was the reason that the club used to allow his entry to the Bombonera despite the fact that national health protocols stipulated that he had to comply with a 10-day isolation for having returned to the country and considered close contact with the infected.

The prosecution, on the other hand, understands that neither Román nor Agustín complied with social distancing and the corresponding care in the box during the game.

Riquelme (father) is accused of having breached articles 202 and 205 of the penal code (acts and disobediences that promote the spread of the pandemic) and this Thursday he will have to offer his defense via Zoom.

The vice of Boca could be punished with a fine of up to 100,000 pesos or an arrest of up to 60 days

, according to the law.

On the other hand, he could be sanctioned with the impossibility of attending stadiums for a period of between two and six months.

In Agustín's case, the Federal Justice initiated a case against him for violating article 205.

Through television, Roman's son could be seen in one of the boxes at La Bombonera during the 1-1 draw against River.

There, in addition to his father, were his uncles Diego and Cristian;

Juan Cruz Riva, boyfriend of his sister Florencia;

Jorge Bermúdez, member of the club's Soccer Council;

and Antonio Barijho, who works in the lower divisions.

Except for Bermúdez, no one was wearing a mask.

And the health safety distance between them was not respected.

Agustín Riquelme had been part of the group of 149 graduates who had returned to the country on Saturday, March 13, and of whom 44 had tested positive for the antigen test against covid-19 that was carried out at the Ezeiza airport.

Roman's son tested negative.

From this situation, the Ministry of Health of the Nation began a process to identify the close contacts of infected young people in order to monitor compliance with the mandatory quarantine of each one.

At that time, the Ministry of Health of the Nation recalled through an official statement that "every person who travels abroad must carry out, upon return to the country, quarantine for 10 days from the negative PCR, which is also mandatory" .
