The rules you have to observe when entering the country depend on where you want to enter the country.
The Federal Republic differentiates between risk area, high incidence area (or high risk area) and virus variant area.
This is behind it:
Risk area
: The main criterion is an incidence value of over 50 new infections per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days.
However, insufficient data or a lack of hygiene measures can also lead to classification as a risk area.
High incidence area
: Areas with an incidence of at least 200 and a multiple of the incidence in Germany.
Virus variant area
: Areas that are particularly badly affected by contagious mutations of the coronavirus.
Digital entry registration for all travelers
Anyone
entering
Germany from a risk area must
fill out
a
digital entry form
.
A stay in a risk area is a stay at any time within the last ten days before entry.
The decisive factor is whether the area is declared a risk area at the time of entry into Germany.
After entering the data on the portal for the digital entry registration, you will receive a confirmation that you must show at the control at the airport or at the border.
In addition, the responsible health department is automatically informed that you are required to quarantine.

Entry from a corona risk area: You must observe these rules
When returning from a risk area, you must
immediately
go to
quarantine
at home.
Depending on the federal state, self-isolation takes
ten to 14 days
.
After staying in the risk area, you must be able to
present
a
negative corona test
no later than 48 hours after entering the country
.
The competent authority, i.e. the health department, can request proof up to ten days after entry.
The quarantine at home can be
ended prematurely after five days at the
earliest with a negative corona test
.
However, the test may only be carried out on the fifth day after entry.
Which tests are recognized?
According to the Federal Ministry of Health, nucleic acid amplification techniques (PCR, LAMP, TMA) and antigen tests are generally recognized for the tests.
The latter only if they meet the minimum criteria recommended by the WHO.
Antibody tests are not allowed.

Anyone entering from a high-incidence area must be able to present a negative corona test or a corresponding medical certificate to the carrier upon departure.

also applies to returnees from high-incidence areas,

The quarantine can be ended early after five days with a second negative corona test, which is carried out on the fifth day of entry at the earliest.

Entry from virus variant area: Strict rules for travelers
Until April 14th, there is a
ban
on passengers traveling from virus variant areas.
Germans and foreigners living in Germany are still allowed to enter the country.
There must be a negative test result upon entry.
According to state regulations, the quarantine is a total of
14 days
after entry from a virus variant area
.
Free testing after five days is generally excluded.
Test obligation for air travelers - also from non-risk areas
Since the end of March, all air travelers have to show a negative corona test when checking in at the place of departure.
Otherwise they are not allowed on board the aircraft.
This also applies to travelers from non-risk areas.
