“
We have to play down the matter.
All methods that can reassure voters are welcome.
"A week after the publication of the opinion of the scientific council on the conduct of regional and departmental elections, scheduled for next June, the Socialist senators are defending the"
modernization

If the scientific council does not clearly decide between a postponement and a maintenance of the ballot, it formulates various recommendations on the conduct of the latter and deplores that "
the digitization of votes and postal voting cannot be considered for these elections
".
"
We refused what was necessary to do a year ago, we are paying the bill,
" and condemns Senator Éric Kerrouche.
Co-author of a bill, the elected representative wishes to introduce two devices to the electoral code: postal voting and the staggering of the ballot.
"Too late" for the postal vote in June
"
It is unfortunately too late for the postal vote to be held from the regional
", regrets the senator.
“
The spread of the vote is however quite possible,
” he adds.
The latter would be set up in municipalities with more than 3,500 inhabitants and would allow voters to go to the polls on Friday, Saturday and Sunday of the two rounds.
"
It is simply a question of knowing whether or not there is a political will in the matter
", underlines the socialist.

Other options, which do not appear in the PPL, were also mentioned, such as outdoor voting.
"
It is a limited regulatory evolution, it is just a question of leaving one place, they are also common sense solutions that can help reassure voters at the time of the vote,
" commented Éric Kerrouche.
If the senators regret that the “
digital adaptations
” for the campaign are “
limited
”, they note that “
multiple adaptations are still possible
” for the holding of the poll.
Above all, they warn against the risks of abstention.
“
If we wanted to have as few participants as possible in the poll, we wouldn't do it any other way,
” they said.
On April 14, they will take part in the debate scheduled under article 50-1 of the Constitution.
For the time being, they say they do not know on what issue they will be questioned and are asking the government to clarify the situation.
