Moscow-Sana

Russia announced the licensing of the world's first (certified veterinary vaccine) for the emerging corona virus, which targets pets and fur.

According to the specialist website IFL Science, the vaccine was developed by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Monitoring, Russell Khaznadzor, which confirmed in a statement published on its website that the vaccine is ready for use and will begin production at a rate of 10,000 doses per day.

The site added that preclinical studies of the vaccine began last August and included 130 mink animals, 130 cats, 13 dogs and 130 ferrets, followed by other successful experiments last October that included cats, dogs and other animals with fur, but it was not announced until last week.

Konstantin Savenkov, deputy head of Russell Khaznadzor, said in the statement that the results of the experiments confirm that the vaccine is harmless and its immune activity is high, as all the animals that received it developed antibodies to the virus that last for at least six months.

The importance of this vaccine is that it will reduce the need to execute animals, as happened in Denmark, where its government was forced to execute 17 million mink animals at the end of last year in an attempt to control the spread of the Corona virus, according to the site.

And the Agricultural Safety Watch in Russia announced that the vaccine marketed under the name (Carnavic-Cove) will be available for purchase soon and consists of two doses taken with a time difference between them, after it was registered for use on dogs, cats, mink, foxes and other animals, according to TASS News Agency.
