In a short-term campaign, the BRK inoculated a special Astrazeneca delivery over the Easter weekend in Erding.

Those who wanted to be vaccinated were queuing hours before the opening.

Erding

- queues across the parking lot.

Cursing citizens who give up in exasperation after standing in line for a long time.

But also over 500 lucky ones who received the long-awaited corona vaccination on Easter weekend.

The special campaign at the vaccination center in the gym on Lodererplatz met with tremendous interest over the Easter weekend.

Many complained about the bad organization of the vaccination center operators from the BRK.

“We knew: there would be a rush.

We didn't expect that people would come at 11 a.m. when the center opens at 2 p.m., ”explains BRK managing director Gisela van der Heijden when asked.

Astrazeneca in Erding: people queue up hours before the vaccination center opens

Especially on behalf of the employees who spontaneously sacrificed their Easter weekend to inoculate 550 doses of Astrazeneca vaccine, van der Heijden rejects some particularly violent allegations.

It was not until late Thursday afternoon that the BRK learned that an additional 550 cans of Astrazeneca would be delivered.

It was then decided to open from Saturday to Monday in the afternoon and to vaccinate around 180 district citizens over 60 years of age.

"That was very short-term," emphasizes van der Heijden.

When the first BRK employees started work on Holy Saturday at 1 p.m., they were surprised by a long queue.

In the following days, the issuing of registration forms began in the morning.

Because of the large number of people, “the Corona Vaccination Center decided on Saturday to introduce a numbering system for the next two days.

We apologize for the waiting time, but due to the spontaneous delivery, we only had limited options to react, ”explains van der Heijden.

A reader of the Erdinger Anzeiger found out about this on Easter Sunday during a short conversation at the vaccination center.

She and her husband came back the next day at 10 a.m., had their registration number two hours later, went home for lunch, and were quickly vaccinated again at 2 p.m.

It was only with this direct demand that such an information advantage could be obtained.

This development was not known when the local newspaper was printing for the Easter weekend.

Corresponding tips could not be obtained online either.

Some citizens were correspondingly disappointed and angry.

"I picked up my mother from Buch am Buchrain especially and we stood in front of the door of the vaccination center on Easter Monday at 1.30 p.m. - without even having a chance to get a vaccination," complained Claudia Füssel from Munich in an email to the editorial team .

Short-term Astrazeneca vaccinations in Erding: "Lack of organization is indescribable"

Eva Göckener from Oberneuching criticizes the vaccination campaign even more clearly.

"This lack of information and organization is simply indescribable and unheard of, to put it mildly, a bottomless mess," she wrote in an email to the District Office and the Red Cross that our newspaper had before us.

She and her husband tried three times over the Easter weekend to get a vaccination appointment.

On Easter Sunday at 1.30 p.m. and about 24 hours later, all appointments were already taken.

In between they tried to queue at 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

However, since no one was on site and no information was posted, she and her husband drove home without having achieved anything.

Gaby Gerstner from Wartenberg had better luck.

After a failed attempt on Easter Sunday at 1.30 p.m., she returned on Monday at 11 a.m.

She received an appointment within an hour and knew that she had to come back from 3:30 p.m.

"Admission, short waiting time, everyone highly motivated, vaccination administered in the shortest possible time, thanks to everyone," Gerstner wrote to the editorial team.

But she also complains about inept organization and inadequate information: "It's a shame that the way to the vaccination was so chaotic."

Astrazeneca vaccinations in Bavaria: people stand in line for hours - organization fails

Thomas Werner from Wörth assesses the process in a similar way.

“It is of course great when you are offered something of additional capacity.

But do you have to let this spontaneous action run so chaotically?

Couldn't that have been organized in a more functional way than exposing the over-60s addressed to wind and weather for over three hours? ”He writes.

Wolfgang Thomas and his wife Gabriele also had to come several times to get the redeeming prick.

The Oberdinger, on the other hand, only comment positively on the process.

They broke off their first attempt on Saturday around 1.30 p.m. when a BRK employee announced that all appointments had been taken.

"On Sunday we decided to skip the Easter meal in favor of a vaccination," reports Wolfgang Thomas.

At 11.40 a.m., quite a few people who wanted to be vaccinated had already queued.

"After a short waiting time, a nice man from the security handed out the necessary questionnaires and explanations with a writing pad and pen to those waiting," reports Thomas.

With the numbers 42 and 43, the couple from Oberding had their turn around 2.30 p.m. and finished an hour later.

“We have great respect for the performance of the mostly voluntary employees.

We don't regret the time invested of around four hours, ”explains Thomas.
