Soon there will be no more Astrazeneca in Freising's vaccination center, but enough vaccine: "We have overcome the tough phase"

"There is enough vaccine in the run-up," says Freising's BRK boss. The fact that Astrazeneca will soon only be vaccinated in general practitioners' practices does not affect operations in the vaccination center.

"There is enough vaccine in the run-up," says Freising's BRK boss.

The fact that Astrazeneca will soon only be vaccinated in general practitioners' practices does not affect operations in the vaccination center.

Freising

- In the vaccination centers in the Free State there will soon be no more first vaccinations with Astrazeneca.

From April 19, the vaccine should only be injected in doctors' offices.

Not much will change in the Freising vaccination center in the former Stein barracks, says BRK district manager Albert Söhl when asked.

As for the vaccination campaign, he is in good spirits anyway: "There is enough vaccine coming up - and we are hardworking."

Incision only on Holy Saturday

Over the Easter holidays there was only a short break on Holy Saturday, as the vaccine replenishment only arrived in the cathedral city late in the evening.

“But it went straight on on Easter Sunday,” says Söhl.

The majority of the cans already come from Biontech, but Moderna is also being inoculated in Freising in phases.

“We only got a little something from Astrazeneca.

We will use that for second vaccinations for people over 60 ”, explains the BRK boss.

Not a single dose of the valuable substance is thrown away.

Just recently - as reported - a temporary vaccination center was built in Zolling.

Because 168 vaccination doses from another district threatened to expire, the Freising district accepted them without further ado and used them to vaccinate the fire brigade, THW and water rescue service.

Albert Söhl is satisfied with the way the vaccinations went.

“We are at the limit of our capacity, we are working to the limit.

We're really good at that. ”As long as Freising continues to be supplied with vaccination doses, the company is on the right track.

With the first group - the over 80s - you are as good as through.

“The family doctor has to vaccinate people who are bedridden.

That is why we are so keen that they get started now, ”explains the BKR boss.

The vaccination center is already devoted to people between 70 and 80 years of age.

At the moment there are still heaps of folders with registrations on site;

the people would have to be called and invited one by one.

However, this procedure is slowly being discontinued.

Söhl therefore appeals to everyone who has not yet done so to register online at the address impfzentren.bayern - and to provide truthful information in their own right.

For example, anyone who states a previous illness when registering must provide proof of this at the time of vaccination.

“You cannot artificially prioritize yourself in the sequence of vaccinations.

If the previous illness cannot be proven, the person concerned will be sent away, ”explains Söhl.

“This is not a chicane and not a bad will.

We have to do that, it is monitored very closely. "

General practitioners should increase the pace

How long the team in the vaccination center needs to vaccinate the 70 to 80-year-olds is currently difficult to estimate.

“There are more people in this age group than in group one.

But the fact that the family doctors are now also taking part could make things quicker, ”speculates Söhl.

"We are making good progress so far within the framework we had hoped for." However, he also sees the procedure as realistic.

"Now we have a good 25,000 people who have been vaccinated - around 180,000 people live in the district."

for example children, pregnant women and people who do not want to be vaccinated.

"But even then we are still a long way from the number of vaccinated people that we need to get the pandemic under control," says the BRK district manager.

Despite everything: "We have overcome the tough phase."
