Giving young people a voice in the ongoing corona pandemic: Four of the five youth centers in the Weilheim-Schongau district are holding a so-called tape art project with the title "#undduso?"

Peiting

- A look at the Internet is not always really informative.

For example, if you enter “tape art” as a search term, you will find the following definition on Wikipedia: “Tape art describes art that was created from adhesive tapes.

Different adhesive tapes with different structures, colors and shapes can be used. ”That is still quite abstract.

It goes on to say: “Tape Art arose from the search for an alternative to spray cans as a sub-category in the Urban Art area.

Tape art was primarily used originally in public urban spaces. "

Young people are apparently less dense and familiar with this art form, otherwise the youth centers of the district, more precisely four out of five, would not have come up with the idea of initiating a “tape art project” with the beautiful subtitle “#undduso?” .

Somewhat different way of making contact

Background of the company: Since all youth centers in Bavaria have been closed due to the corona since the end of November last year and can therefore only come into virtual contact with young people, the educators at the Peiting youth center, Jürgen Schaffarczik, social worker and head of the house, and Sonja Merkle, educator, cultural educator and educational assistant, were looking for a “slightly different form of contact” - and fell into the art form “tape art”.

Because making sculptures is one of many tape art variations.

Here, the tape is shaped and glued together so that figures are created.

Mostly painter's tape, i.e. paper tape, is used.

These figures can now be set up in public spaces, i.e. in the fresh air, and thus fully compliant with the prescribed hygiene guidelines.

It needs the QR code

But how does the aforementioned contact take place?

The young people should also understand this more quickly.

The common question among them “And you like that?” Corresponds roughly to the “How are you?” That older semesters would choose.

So that you can react to the question, the characters have a QR code on their clothing, behind which an online survey is hidden.

So when young people come by, they scan the QR code with their smartphone and get to the survey, which is of course anonymous.

There, users are encouraged to make a short statement and tell them what has changed for them in the corona pandemic.

"The project serves as a communication platform for the young people," explains Schaffarczik.

“The statements obtained through the survey are then processed and presented to the public.

"We want to draw attention to the situation of young people in the pandemic and give young people a voice," said Schaffarczik.

The first "Tape Art Figures" have been set up on the main square in Peiting.

The JuZe employees put it together.

"We cannot currently do any campaigns with the young people," Merkle regrets.

She and Schaffarczik arranged a pair of figures on a bench so that at first glance you might think that there are actually two young people sitting there.

A figure with a positive charisma and one that looks downcast were deliberately created.

The young people should feel addressed with both moods.

It remains to be seen what response the campaign will find among the target group.

The two educators do not want to make a forecast.

“Of course we hope to get as much feedback as possible,” says Schaffarczik.

In addition to Peiting, the youth centers in Weilheim, Penzberg and Schongau also take part in the campaign.

Peißenberg is only not represented because the employee there is working in the district office due to Corona, explains Merkle.

"And after Easter, the figures from the other participating youth centers are also in action in the respective municipal areas," explains Schaffarczik.
