The US State Department confirmed today that the United States is ready to lift the sanctions it imposes on Iran, including those that are not consistent with the nuclear agreement signed in 2015.

"We are ready to take the necessary steps to return to compliance with the nuclear agreement, including lifting sanctions that are inconsistent with the agreement," ministry spokesman Ned Price said in a press statement.

He added, "I am not in a position to give precise details of what that might mean."

Earlier this week, Abbas Araqchi, the chief assistant to the Iranian foreign minister, stressed the need for the United States to adhere to all its commitments and lift all the sanctions it imposed on his country.
