The Weilheimer Volksfest at the town hall had to be canceled as early as 2020.
And this year there will be no celebrations on the Volksfestplatz.
Weilheim - In just over a month, the plan should have celebrated again at the Weilheim town hall, but now the news that was probably bad for many people, but not surprising: the Weilheimer Volksfest 2021 is canceled.
The city announced this on Thursday.
"The ongoing corona pandemic and the associated restrictions and bans on the implementation of major events" caused the city administration and the landlord, Peter Schöniger, to cancel, according to a press release.
There is no alternative date for the major event, which was planned for the time from Ascension Day, May 13th, to Whit Monday, May 24th, on the fairground.
City is hoping for a festival in the coming year
Last year, too, the hustle and bustle with rides, various stalls and beer tents had already been canceled due to corona.
“It is really a shame that our popular Weilheim folk festival cannot take place for the second time in a row.
However, there is no alternative to our cancellation and we had no other choice, ”Markus Loth, mayor of the district town, is quoted in the press release.
"We are now looking to the year 2022 with renewed hope."
