Ali Adkidak, a 41-year-old East Jerusalem resident who attacked 74-year-old chef Shalom Kadosh about two weeks ago, is charged with robbery and grievous bodily harm.

According to the indictment filed by the Jerusalem District Attorney's Office this morning (Thursday) in the city's district court, Adkidak arrived at a gas station in the city on March 21.

He noticed a vehicle standing on the spot, stopped to his right and noticed banknotes inside the vehicle.

So, he turned around the car as he looked to the sides, waiting for the right moment to steal the money.

At one point he leaned toward the vehicle, put his right hand and head through the window, took the money he had in it and put it in his pocket.

Immediately afterwards, Kadosh noticed what was happening and began to chase after Adkidak, who tried to flee the scene.

Kadosh managed to grab the defendant with his right hand, but he pushed him away from him with force to the ground.

As a result, Kadosh fell to the floor, his head was hit hard on the road and he suffered fractures to his skull and fractures to his neck.

Adkidak, who has a criminal record and has only recently been released from prison, removed the outerwear he was wearing, and threw it in a trash can.

After fleeing the scene, police began investigating the circumstances of the case.

After an investigation and after scans were conducted in the area, Adkidek was located after about a week - and arrested.

During his interrogation he denied his involvement in the case.

According to the indictment, the chef is still anesthetized and respirated while in critical condition.

The prosecution requested that Adkidek's detention be extended until the end of the legal proceedings against him.

Chef Shalom Kadosh, Yakir Jerusalem, one of the most well-known and veteran chefs in Israel and around the world, has cooked meals for presidents and heads of state from all over the world.
