A children's book that not only brings younger readers closer to the topic of sustainability, but that is also printed in an environmentally friendly manner.

Alexandra Wagner was Wartenberg has now started a crowdfunding campaign for this.

Wartenberg - Getting children excited about reading, but at the same time sensitizing them to complex topics such as sustainability, consumption or manufacturing processes.

Make it clear to you that everyone can make a difference with their actions.

And the whole thing is not based on a non-fiction book, but packaged in an adventure story: That is what the Wartenberg-born Alexandra Wagner wants to achieve with her book series “The magical world of things”.

In doing so, she sets a good example.

Because the first volume, “Anton's secret journey with Paul Pulli”, is printed in a climate-neutral and environmentally friendly way.

In mid-March, the 44-year-old started a crowdfunding campaign that runs until April 19.

100 percent recycled paper is used, the ecological inks and the printer are certified, promises Wagner.

The initial target of the online campaign is 3500 euros, and by Wednesday noon 56 supporters have already donated a good 3000 euros.

The book, which is expected to be available from May 20th, is not packaged in plastic, has a colored hardcover, contains over 40 illustrations in grayscale and is suitable for children aged six and over.

Important topics in themselves are fine and fair.

But: You also need an exciting story in order to bring it to the children or their parents.

And it works like this:

“Where does my favorite sweater come from?” Anton asks one evening.

Little does he know that this question will change his life.

Because it is through them that the superhero comes to life on his sweater.

He takes Anton on a secret journey to distant lands and to the places where the sweater was made.

"Each volume in the series is devoted to the manufacturing process of a specific product, its supply chain and effects on people and nature," explains Wagner.

In a playful and child-friendly way, the young readers would be stimulated to think - "but without overwhelming them and without pointing fingers".

With the book Wagner wants to support reforestation projects in Bad Tölz, Lechtal, Oberammergau, Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Schliersee.

50 copies - she wants to have 2500 copies printed - she will donate to school libraries, small libraries and charitable institutions.

Wagner is married and has a seven-year-old son.

She studied communication science in Munich and Milan.

Italy because her father is from this country.

Wagner works as a freelance online editor and content manager.

If she finds the time, she goes for walks, runs and hikes - "or I'll write a children's book and start a crowdfunding campaign for it," she says with a wink.

But then to get serious again: “The climate crisis and environmental problems are directly linked to our consumer behavior.

We can only create positive change if everyone does their part.

A change always begins with knowledge and reflection on one's own actions.

You can't get this insight early enough, ”emphasizes Wagner.

It doesn't look bad with the 3500 euros.

If the funding target is exceeded, Wagner wants to promote the children's book more intensively, "so that it does not go under in the busy book market".

With the excess money she wants to expand her website www.alexandrawagner.de for the children's book series, and also to promote marketing in the local book trade.

"Since I'm not a loner and always want to do things 100 percent, I got advice from the target group and action from professionals," says Wagner.

For example, from an editor and a specialist editor, from ten test readers aged between five and ten years, from a children's and young adult book illustrator.

And by native speakers who have translated passages into Portuguese, Turkish, Bengali and Swahili.

“But don't worry, 99 percent of the text is in German,” promises Wagner.

The book for 14.95 euros will be available wherever there are books - whether in stores or on the Internet, for example on the website www.magische-Welt-der-Dinge.com;

ISBN: 978-3-96966-720-0.
