Nuremberg - In the night from Wednesday (April 7th) to Thursday (April 8th), a 23-year-old fled an identity check in downtown Nuremberg.

When he was arrested, he defended himself - and injured the officers in the process.

Police officers from the Nuremberg-Mitte police station met the man at around 3:30 a.m. at Frauentorgraben in Nuremberg *.

He stayed there despite the nightly curfew.

At first, the 23-year-old reacted cooperatively, but suddenly he fled during the measure.

He apparently lashed out so wildly that the two officers, a 31-year-old and a 23-year-old, sustained hand injuries.

The 23-year-old man carried the alleged reason for his escape with him: During his search, the officers found a small amount of narcotics on him.

Because of the suspicion of resistance and assault on law enforcement officers, an investigation is now underway against him.

The police are also investigating him on suspicion of illegal possession of narcotics.

The public prosecutor's office filed for arrest.
