After a series of deadly shootings in recent weeks, and with legislation stuck in Congress, President Biden last night announced a series of presidential orders restricting and overseeing the distribution of weapons in the United States. In light of recent mass shootings in Georgia, Colorado and California.
Last month, Biden urged Congress to say, "You can't wait another day."
Yesterday, at a press conference at the White House, the president used administrative orders to advance the restriction and control of weapons.
"Enough with the prayers - it's time for action," he declared.
The president called the series of shooting incidents in the United States an "epidemic," and vehemently rejected criticism as if his steps violated the Second Amendment (which protects the right to bear arms).
Biden has announced a series of measures aimed at preventing the large-scale distribution of a number of "ghost guns", the nickname for home-made weapons.
The presidential order also includes a clause according to which a pistol equipped with a grip and stabilization kit will be defined as a rifle, and thus will be subject to strict regulations and supervision.
It should be noted that in a shooting in Colorado about two weeks ago, in which 10 people were killed, the shooter used a stabilizing splint, which allowed him to shoot more accurately and lethally.
The president also ordered a report on the arms trade.

The governor of Texas has announced that he will promote legislation that would allow "evasion of any restrictions on weapons" and made it clear that he would protect the constitutional right.
The NRA, the powerful arms lobby, tweeted: "The NRA is ready to fight."
