Confidence in Macron down slightly, stronger for Castex

According to a poll, 63% of French people do not trust the president, a figure close to the highest level of mistrust recorded since the start of the health crisis in December.


The confidence ratings of Emmanuel Macron and Jean Castex fell in early April, by one point for the head of state with 33% favorable opinions, by 4 points for his prime minister at 26%, according to the Elabe barometer for

The confidence rating of the president to "

effectively face the problems facing the country

" fell for the second consecutive month, but less strong than in March (-2 points).

The proportion of French people who do not trust the president has increased by 3 points (63%), closer to the highest level of mistrust recorded since the start of the health crisis (64% in December).

Concerning Jean Castex, it is about a rupture after 3 consecutive months of improvement.

66% of French people questioned do not trust him.

This drop in trust concerns all age categories, the over 65s being the most likely to trust it (31%).

Edouard Philippe at the head of political figures

Also in decline (-3 points), his predecessor Edouard Philippe still dominates the ranking of political figures (51%) ahead of the former Minister of Ecological Transition Nicolas Hulot (46%) and the Minister of Culture Roselyne Bachelot, who increased by 2 points (40%).

On the front line in the management of the health crisis, the Minister of Health Olivier Véran follows (33%, -2) ahead of his colleague from the Economy Bruno Le Maire (32%).

Just behind, former president Nicolas Sarkozy (31%) and the president of the National Rally Marine Le Pen (29%) both progress by 4 and 2 points respectively.

Survey conducted online on April 6 and 7 using the quota method, on a sample of 1,003 people aged 18 or over.
