On March 31, 1971, the mine in Peißenberg and Hohenpeißenberg closed.

Other jobs had to be found for the many miners and employees.

That is why some companies were relocated to Peißenberg.

At that time the employment office even set up a job

agency in Peißenberg.

Government support, the municipal administration and the very good social plan made it possible to find new jobs for all employees.

Three larger companies were established in Peißenberg: "Siemens", "Agfa" and "MTU".

The "BHS-Cometall-Peißenberg" was founded on the mining site, and the metal company employed almost 200 people.

Large areas of land were made available for all three new companies and the new factory halls were built relatively quickly.

The mining operations continued until the last day, not everyone could just go.

The counter could not be switched from one day to the next, social plans regulated the employees' claims and thus also their change.

The following are the number of employees at the time, from which you can also see the great task it was for everyone in the Peißenberg mine to find or provide a new job again: On November 14, 1969, the day it was announced that the Peißenberg mine was closed 1553 workers and 267 salaried employees worked there, which corresponds to a total number of employees of 1820.

On March 1, 1971 there were 617 workers and 131 salaried employees, so a total of 748 people were employed by the mine.

On December 1, 1971, the Peißenberg mine had 59 workers, 46 salaried employees and a total of 105 employees; on January 1, 1972, there was neither an employee nor a worker there.

Most of the former miners found a job again in the new companies.

Many of the younger comrades had to learn a new profession.

Many miners found their future in the public service, the offers came from the road construction office, surveying office to site administration.

Many became commuters.

Ultimately, however, nobody was left without a job.

The older miners were able to retire within the framework of the negotiated social plans.

Overall, it was a tremendous achievement to create this large number of jobs at the Peißenberg location.

At that time, of course, the big companies were granted substantial tax advantages and subsidies so that they could come to Peißenberg and set up a branch there.
