Michel Berson (PS) died on Thursday at the age of 75 from cancer, at Villeneuve-Saint-Georges hospital (Val-de-Marne).
This outstanding figure of the department was successively mayor of Crosne (1977-1998), deputy (1981-1997), president of the general council of Essonne (1998-2011) and senator (2011-2017).

But it was especially his 13 years at the head of the department that marked the spirits.
“Of all the mandates he has held, this is the one that was closest to his heart,” writes Antoine Pavani, one of his relatives.
