The major political blocs in the European Parliament expressed their anger after the protocol insult to which the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, was subjected to during her visit two days ago to Ankara, accompanied by the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and their meeting with the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Italian agency Aki reported that "the controversy arose against the background of what has become known in the media as the" scandal of the missing seat "after photos and videos of Von der Line were circulated in a state of daze and embarrassment after discovering that there was no seat allocated to it alongside both Erdogan and Michel.

Both European parliamentarians, Manfred Weber, head of the Christian Democrats group, and Eratex Beers, chair of the Socialist Group, expressed their shock at the unfortunate image of the European Union institutions in Turkey.

The two European parliamentarians took to both von der Leyen and Michel their inability to move in a unified manner and condemned the actions of the Turkish side, and said, "We are waiting for the best from European foreign policy."

For her part, the head of the Spanish Socialists and Democrats bloc, Iracci García Perez, requested a hearing session for the chairpersons of the Commission and the Council to clarify what happened and how to impose respect for European institutions.

As for the more severe comments, French politicians came at a time when relations between France and the Turkish regime are experiencing severe tension, as the French political class unanimously condemned the protocol insult to which the President of the European Commission was subjected, describing it as shocking and scandalous.

The various European and Turkish parties are blaming the blame for the error in interpreting the protocol, and many here blame the President of the European Council for failing or neglecting to support the Chairperson of the Commission.

Michel had issued a statement expressing his regret for what happened, indicating that he did not ignore it, rather he preferred to focus on the content of the visit and not its form, which did not convince many in Brussels and European capitals.

The President of the European Commission was insulted after she was forced to sit on a side seat during her meeting with the President of the European Council with the President of the Turkish regime, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, in Ankara yesterday.

This incident took place at a sensitive diplomatic stage during which the European Union and Turkey seek to revive their relations after a year of tension, and the Europeans do not hide their concerns about violations of basic rights in Turkey, especially the Turkish regime's decision to withdraw from the Istanbul Convention to Combat Violence Against Women and Children.
