Today (Thursday), the State of Israel will commemorate the victims of the Holocaust in a series of events and ceremonies throughout the country.

At 10:00, a two-minute siren will sound, and immediately afterwards a ceremony will be held to lay the wreaths at the monument to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising at Yad Vashem, with the participation of President Reuven Rivlin, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin, Supreme Court President Esther Hayut and representatives of survivor organizations.

Yesterday, the state ceremony was held to mark Holocaust Martyrs 'and Heroes' Remembrance Day at Yad Vashem in Jerusalem, and this year the date was marked "The Last Jewish Witness - Eighty Years to the Beginning of Mass Extermination."

The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Rivlin.

In a speech delivered by the prime minister, he warned Israel's allies about signing an agreement that would allow Iran nuclear weapons, and said that an agreement that would pave the way for Tehran to nuclear would not bind Israel.



Today, there are 174,500 Holocaust survivors living in Israel, with 83% of them over the age of 80 and 60% of the survivors being women, the Holocaust Survivors' Rights Authority has updated.

In the last year since Memorial Day last year, 14,264 survivors have died, and an average of 41 survivors have died every day.

About 31,000, who are 18% of the survivors and victims of antisemitic harassment, have passed the age of 90 and more than 900 survivors have crossed the age of 100. The average age of about 105,000 survivors is 84.8.
