The Nürnberger Post SV has achieved the necessary quorum in its online petition.

Nuremberg

- Several major Bavarian sports clubs have joined forces and drafted a position paper in which the clubs are demanding more financial support and proposing a step-by-step plan for resuming sports activities - in compliance with the applicable hygiene regulations.

The Nürnberger Post SV even started an online petition for the immediate resumption of outdoor sports and training.

Now they have achieved the necessary quorum.

Corona in Bavaria - Nuremberg sports club: Online petition for outdoor sports reaches goal

The association received more than 28,000 signatures in Nuremberg * and thus achieved the necessary quorum to be able to hand over the petition to the Bavarian state parliament.

In mid-February, Post SV started the online petition with the motto "Sport is part of the solution and not the problem in the Corona * pandemic".

In their letter, the association points out that children and young people in particular suffered massively from the fact that the sports clubs are in corona lockdown.

The clubs contribute to the fitness and health of all athletes with their offer.

"Many are already complaining about an increase in back and joint pain, weight gain, lack of fitness and resistance," the letter continues.

The club's coaches were already shocked after the shorter lockdown a year ago at how much, for example, motor skills in children and adolescents had deteriorated in a few weeks.

The lockdown has now been in place for over five months.

The association understands that measures are necessary.

"Every sick and dead person is one too many." However, the measure to ban all club sport is "neither expedient nor efficient".

“Blanket ban is based on a mistake in reasoning” - contagion during soccer matches is low

The association makes its justification clear with an example.

In a soccer game, including changers, a maximum of 30 players are involved, who play on a field of approx. 7000 square meters.

“That's around 230 square meters per player!” A Danish study also showed that in a 90-minute game, the time of close encounters is just 88 seconds.

The game takes place outdoors, where, according to the studies, "the risk of infection is reduced by a factor of 19".

“Where should the excessive risk of infection lie here?” Ask the initiators of the petition.

The blanket ban is only superficially plausible.

"But it is based on a mistake!"

In the next few days, the association would like to officially submit the petition to the Bavarian state parliament so that it can examine the matter.

They want to be well prepared for this so that the petition is heard there accordingly.
