Verona, Basel, Vienna: night trains in Europe for summer 2021
Night trains have gone out of fashion in recent years: Deutsche Bahn * even discontinued its own service in 2016.
But traveling in a sleeping car could now experience a renaissance.
The private train operator "Train4you" is planning six new connections in Europe for the summer of 2021.
From the beginning of July to mid-August, the
vacation express night trains run
on Fridays
from Basel to Rügen
and back again on Saturday, as

There are stops on the way in Freiburg, Mannheim, Frankfurt am Main, Hanover, Hamburg, Schwerin and Stralsund.
All trains have sleeping and couchette cars.
From mid-June to the end of September there will also be a
route to Verona
- there are entry options in Hamburg, Hanover, Fulda and Munich, among others.
In addition, in autumn there will be
a route from Düsseldorf via Cologne and Passau to Vienna
and back again.

In general, the range of night train routes in Europe is to be expanded again in the coming years.
Deutsche Bahn has teamed up with the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB), the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and the French state-owned company SNCF and signed a corresponding letter of intent.
A total of
13 European metropolises
are to be connected with each other via four new Nightjet lines.
A night train from
Zurich via Cologne to Amsterdam
and one from
Vienna via Munich to Paris are
to be made available
as early as December 2021
.
A year later, a connection from
Zurich to Rome is
planned.
December 2023 then provides for a line from
Vienna via Berlin to Paris
as planned.
In 2024,
Barcelona
should also
be accessible
from Germany
by night train.
