The municipality of Jachenau is increasing the fee on the hiking parking lots for the second time within a short period of time. If there were 2 euros per day until 2020, it will be 5 euros in the future.

The municipality of Jachenau is increasing the fee on the hiking parking lots for the second time within a short period of time.

If there were 2 euros per day until 2020, it will be 5 euros in the future.

Jachenau

- Not only at Walchensee, but in the entire municipality, Jachenau is regulating the parking fees again.

In future, 5 euros per day for cars and 10 euros for mobile homes will be charged at all hiking parking spaces.

The municipal council unanimously decided on the corresponding fee schedule at its meeting on Tuesday.

Only last year the municipality doubled the parking fee from 2 to 4 euros - now the next step is about to add another euro.

Just as much is being asked in the surrounding communities, says Mayor Klaus Rauchberger to the Tölzer Kurier.

Fishermen want an annual parking card for the southern shore of Lake Walchensee

On the southern bank of the Walchensee, on the other hand, parking fees are due for the first time - in addition to the toll.

The municipality leases the parking spaces there from the Bavarian State Forests and operates them itself from now on.

Local councilor Josef Orterer said he had been approached by fishermen about this.

They asked whether a long-term parking ticket could not be offered for them - similar to the annual ticket that is available for the toll.

He also received numerous such inquiries, answered Mayor Klaus Rauchberger.

But he warned: "We have to be careful."

Mayor of Jachenau describes the parking fee as "relatively moderate"

He recalled that access to the south bank will be limited to 1,000 vehicles in the future - they will be counted by radar at the new toll stations on both sides as they enter and exit.

"If we are now selling lots of annual tickets, we will soon no longer need to let anyone else through," said Rauchberger.

Another problem is that holders of annual tickets can claim a free parking space - but this cannot always be guaranteed.

Smokingberger emphasized that he had nothing against the fishermen.

But then divers or other regular lake visitors could also ask for long-term parking cards.

The mayor described the price of the parking ticket as "relatively moderate" anyway.

Councilor Eugenie Grünwald also spoke out against the exception rules.

"It was clear there was going to be an outcry," she stated.

“But there is a reason why we do it this way.

We can't start to soften the whole thing now. ”Georg Kohlhauf saw that too.

Parking at the Schützenhaus is free for the first two hours

There was also a discussion in the local council about the parking lot at the Schützenhaus.

The question here was whether and how one can give churchgoers two hours of free parking.

The police and the park guards from the Tölzer Zweckverband advised against the introduction of a free two-hour ticket, said Rauchberger.

That is too difficult to control.

He liked the option of allowing vehicle owners to park freely for two hours using the parking disc.

But the mayor also saw problems there: RVers in particular who are in the vehicle could simply keep turning the parking disc every two hours.

"Something like that would be noticed," replied Orterer.

RV owners are only rarely short-term parkers.

For those who go to church after Corona, who would also go to St. Nikolaus from abroad, they definitely need "a legal way to park for free".

Kohlhauf did not want to make sense of what was difficult to control in the process.

Andreas Demmel and Josef Danner argued that the situation should be monitored in the early days and readjusted if abuse was discovered.

Against the votes of Rauchberger and Eugenie Grünwald, the municipal council decided to allow two hours of free parking by the parking disc.

The increased parking fees are due as soon as the existing parking machines are reprogrammed or the new parking machines are available at Walchensee (see box).

Rauchberger does not expect the latter until June.
