Police attacked in Mayotte: opening of a judicial investigation for attempted murder

A judicial investigation for attempted murder was opened after the assault of police officers by an individual with a metal fork at the Mamoudzou police station,

The assailant, a Palestinian born in 1983, was remanded in custody.

Tuesday April 6, around 11 am, the individual manages to enter the parking lot of the Mamoudzou police station.

Shirtless, he is armed with a two-pronged metal fork.

Three policemen then surround him and ask him to drop his "weapon".

Faced with his refusal, a police officer ends up hitting him with his taser.

The attacker, however, gets up and throws himself on the police officer, shouting

"Allah Akbar"

", details the public prosecutor.

Caught by the other officials present, the man was finally arrested and then taken into police custody.

Psychologically shocked by this assault, a police officer had 8 days of ITT (temporary incapacity for work).

A marginal profile, according to the prosecutor

Informed of the facts by the Mamoudzou prosecution, the national anti-terrorism prosecution did not take up the investigation.
