“This year, it will be the last time that we will experience this reduced training and from next year we will increase the initial training by four months.
So all the peacekeepers will have one year of training ”, declared the minister in“ L'Œil du 20h ”of France 2. This will come into force“ from the first promotion of 2022 ”and the period of training in the police station will be reduced to 12 months, his entourage told AFP.
Since June 2020, the police have spent only eight months in school, followed by sixteen months of internship in the police station.
This “major training reform” was launched in 2016 by the former Minister of the Interior Bernard Cazeneuve to speed up the arrival of recruits on the ground in the post-attack context.
"It was not a good measure," said Gerald Darmanin, even speaking of a "fundamental error" at the end of November in the National Assembly, a few days after the Michel Zecler affair, a black music producer beaten by police officers. .

The training, identified as one of the “seven deadly sins of the police”, was the subject of a round table at the beginning of March within the framework of the Beauvau de la sécurité, a major national consultation on the police launched in January.
The minister also indicated to “L'Œil du 20H” the deletion of a “sanction grid” which, according to France 2, “would tolerate criminal behavior during police training”.
“When a serious fault is committed at school, it should not be sanctioned by a loss of points that can be recovered elsewhere.
The student should simply be excluded from the training, ”explains the minister's entourage.
Gérald Darmanin announced Wednesday that the conclusions of the Beauvau of security were expected in "September / October" in order to develop a draft law of orientation and programming for "December".
