Iranian President Hassan Rouhani affirmed that the United States had failed to achieve the goals it sought through sanctions and unjust embargoes, while Iran won this economic war.
Rouhani said in a videoconference during the inauguration of five new scientific projects, “The previous US administration surpassed all oppressors and waged a comprehensive economic war against the Iranian people and extended its sanctions to the health and food sector and necessary needs,” explaining that the goal of the US embargo on Iran was to exhaust it, but the Americans failed and were Iran is the victor in this economic war thanks to its people who have survived despite suffering.
Rouhani indicated that the new US administration recognized the failure of the maximum pressure policy against Iran and recognized the mistake made by the administration of former President Donald Trump, stressing the need to move forward towards achieving self-sufficiency in the field of science and technology, which obviates the import of many goods.
Today, Iran inaugurated 5 technical and technological projects in the provinces of Tehran, Alborz and Qazvin, including manufacturing a metro train with seven cars, launching a low-consumption cylinder engine production line, opening a national laboratory for advanced dynamics at Tehran University, launching the innovation development project of Sharif Industrial University and a project to produce the seasonal flu vaccine.
On the other hand, Rouhani stressed in a speech to the tenth virtual summit of the Group of Eight developing countries hosted by Bangladesh that the consolidation of the multilateral approach is one of the important priorities of Iran's foreign policy.
"Iran has always supported collective efforts to build a fair and non-discriminatory international economic system with the aim of achieving economic growth, balanced development and ensuring prosperity and happiness for all peoples," Rouhani said.
