The attack took place inside a furniture business in Bryan, Texas. It comes just hours after President Joe Biden announced executive orders to curb access to some firearms in order to curb mass shootings in the United States.

At least one person died and five others were injured Thursday during a shooting inside a furniture business in Bryan, Texas, police in that city said.

There is a suspect in custody.

Police Lt. Jason James said officers in his department responded to reports of a shooting at 2:30 pm (local time) and found "multiple victims" in a commercial establishment.

The officer said that the authorities were interviewing the employees of the place, which is located in an industrial zone.

James said the shooting occurred at 350 Stone City Drive, near the Brazos County Industrial Park.

The suspect is believed to be an employee of Kent Moore Cabinets.

The town of Bryan is about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Houston.

The shooting comes just hours after President Joe Biden announced executive orders to curb access to some firearms in order to curb mass shootings in the United States.

"Gun violence in this country is an epidemic and it is an international disgrace," Biden said.

One of his executive orders asks the Justice Department to write rules that reduce the proliferation of so-called ghost weapons, which are homemade firearms often made from parts purchased online and do not have traceable serial numbers.
