It is only a week old, but is already finding fans: Shortly before Easter, the Fürstenfeldbruck public utility installed and commissioned the first public charging station at the town hall of the Wörthsee community in Steinebach.

“It was used exceptionally well in the first few days,” says Mayor Christel Muggenthal happily.

Steinebach - The owners of electric cars now have two charging stations with an output of up to 22 kilowatts per charging point and type 2 plugs.

"The electricity is 100 percent green and is therefore guaranteed to be CO2-neutral," explains the municipality on its website.

Billing takes place via the FFBemobil charging card or another provider.

Alternatively, drivers can also carry out a so-called ad-hoc charge.

Two special parking spaces will be set up in front of the charging station on the Rathausparkplatz, on which the electric cars can be parked free of charge during the charging process.

Stadtwerke Fürstenfeldbruck has invested around 17,000 euros in the charging station and is also operating it.

Half of the costs are covered by the funding program of the Free State of Bavaria.

“A comprehensive charging network is crucial for the expansion of electromobility,” explains Managing Director Jan Hoppenstedt, who officially put the charging station into operation together with Sales Manager Andreas Wohlmann and Mayor Muggenthal.

Because one of the biggest obstacles to buying an electric car is what is known as range anxiety.

"We are taking away this fear by expanding wallboxes in private households and the growing range of charging points, such as in Wörthsee."

Mayor Muggenthal noticed in the first few days that the pillar was being used extensively.

“That shows that we are on the right track.” Ultimately, the municipality of Wörthsee also wants to create additional incentives in terms of its sustainable mobility concept to switch to electric vehicles.

“Last but not least, with the new charging station we can conveniently charge our own fleet with CO2-free electricity,” announced the mayor.

This will make the community even more environmentally friendly, "and we will also improve our carbon footprint".

Stadtwerke Fürstenfeldbruck currently operates 15 charging stations at 13 locations in the entire supply area.
