Starting next week, an additional 10,000 people in the Starnberg district can be vaccinated with Astrazeneca vaccine.

District Administrator Stefan Frey is delighted that his demands on the Free State have borne fruit.

The additional doses are inoculated via the doctor's office.

District

- In the Starnberg district, 10,000 people can be additionally vaccinated from Monday.

This is what District Administrator Stefan Frey said on Friday in the run-up to the special vaccination day on Saturday in the District Office.

The 10,000 Astrazeneca cans were already delivered on Friday and come from reserves in the Free State.

The district is now taking a big step forward in vaccination, especially since more than 3000 doses from other manufacturers are expected next week.

The Astrazeneca cans are to be inoculated by general practitioners, who can order deliveries from Saturday on a special website.

Since the vaccinations began, the district has suffered from its structure: ten hospitals, many homes for the elderly.

Since their staff as well as the residents of old people's and nursing homes were vaccinated first, the seniors over 80 initially received less compared to other circles - the vaccine was distributed by the Free State according to the number of inhabitants.

Frey repeatedly requested changes from the state government, but fell on deaf ears for a long time.

Until the middle of the week: Suddenly it was said that districts could order because the Free State was dissolving reserves (for later second vaccinations).

Frey immediately ordered 10,000 cans, but didn't expect to get them himself.

He was wrong, to his own delight: the confirmation came on Thursday evening, delivery followed on Friday.

Doctors can order from Saturday

Frey is now offering the cans to doctors in the district, who can order online and are supplied by the BRK.

The order starts on Saturday.

Astrazeneca is “a very good vaccine,” says Frey, and he does not expect sales problems.

Especially since this substance offers good protection from the first vaccination.

Astrazeneca is vaccinated in people over 60; younger ones can get vaccinated at their own risk.

The general practitioners know which of their patients have priority and can call the next if someone does not want Astrazeneca.

There is no choice;

Anyone who refuses an offered vaccination appointment because of the vaccine has to register again and wait in line.

"We are making progress with it in one fell swoop," said Frey.

If the doses are not completely needed by the general practitioners, they will be inoculated by the vaccination centers.

Frey has agreed to receive another 10,000 doses for the second vaccination within twelve weeks, when the second dose of Astrazeneca is due.

The additional delivery will almost double the number of people vaccinated since the beginning of the year in one fell swoop.

10,000 Astrazeneca plus more than 3,000 other doses next week - so far a total of around 17,500 people have been vaccinated (as of Friday).

BRK managing director Jan Lang expects that between 10,000 and 13,000 vaccinations per week will soon be organizationally possible via vaccination centers and practices.

The Feldafing vaccination center, for example, is scheduled to go into operation in the middle of next week.

Prerequisite: the vaccine is there.
