He had been in the works for two years.

From this Thursday, travelers can once again take the connecting corridor between Auber (RER A) and Opéra (metro lines 7, 8 and 3).

This had been under construction for two years.

The 100 meters that separate the two stations have been renovated.

Nine million enamel tablets have been replaced.

Four moving walkways with a length of 75 meters, seven escalators and two control lines were changed.

The budget for the renovation of the Auber station (RER A) amounts to more than 100 million euros financed by the State, the Ile-de-France region and the RATP.

The renovation of the Auber RER station is due to end in 2022.

Inaugurated in 1971, Auber station is atypical with its immense vault and platforms more than 30 meters below the road network.

Normally, 180,000 travelers use it daily to take the RER A, reach the stores of the Parisian Grands Boulevards or one of its many connections.

A street art exhibition

“In addition to brand new spaces, they can take advantage of a street art exhibition produced in partnership with the MUR association”, we told RATP.

These artists offer users eight works, produced with mixed techniques (aerosols, brushes, etc.) with a size of approximately 15 square meters each.

The renovation of this connecting corridor, as well as that of the Auber RER station, is part of the overall framework of the “station renewal” program.

Hired in 2016 by RATP, with the support of Ile-de-France Mobilités, “it aims to improve, in the areas it concerns, the level of services offered to travelers.

This involves, among other things, improving reception conditions (renovation of spaces), comfort (new shops and new services), the atmosphere (resumption of lighting systems) and safety (strengthening of video surveillance) ”, explains the RATP.

After Châtelet-les-Halles, renovated in 2018, travelers will soon benefit from renovated spaces in Auber, Vincennes (Val-de-Marne), Nanterre-Ville, La Croix-de-Berny or still from Robinson (Hauts-de-Seine).
