With their Fastenweg campaign in Lindenallee between Bichl and Benediktbeuern, Lilly Schöffmann and Christina Schmid from Bichl have attracted a lot of attention over the past few weeks - and have been very well received.

Bichl

- The project is now over and everything will be dismantled by this Friday evening.

“Every tree was a work of art,” says Lilly Schöffmann.

In contrast to the advent calendar campaign in December, the two women from Bichler asked for “tree sponsorships” for the 42-day fasting campaign so that they wouldn't do everything alone.

The response was great.

Especially Diana Ruf from Bichl was very active, she decorated the trees on behalf of the parish on weekends and at Easter.

Furthermore, private individuals, associations and, for example, the Bichler daycare center took part in the campaign.

“The trees were decorated very lavishly and in great detail.

It was great how much time, effort and love the people put into the project, ”thanks Schöffmann.

The ingenuity of the tree sponsors was great: There were small handicraft and painting activities, the information of which was available for download on the homepage of “Bichl Miteinander”.

Numerous sayings and small texts invited people to reflect, both about the Christian faith as well as about one's own life and our coexistence.

The parents' council of the Bichler Kindergarten initiated a soap bubble campaign, and on Maundy Thursday the parish symbolized the Last Supper with a table.

A tree told of the founder of the order Don Bosco, on other days godparents decorated the theme of International Women's Day and St. Patrick's Day.

Occasionally there were booklets and notebooks to take away, and the Benediktbeuern gardening and beautification association donated seed packets.

The project became known in the region through reporting, including on Bavarian radio and television.

The two organizers know about visitors from Peißenberg, Ettal and Munich.

“Some took a long time to read everything,” reports Christina Schmid.

Incidentally, the vandalism was limited.

“It wasn't as bad as some had feared beforehand,” says Schmid.

The two young mothers are not planning any action in the near future.

However, they want to give tips to all interested parties on the website on how to imitate both the Advent calendar and the Lent project.
