Green leader Robert Habeck has warned his party against "moral arrogance" and righteousness towards those who think differently.

A prerequisite for the success of the Greens in the federal election on September 26th is a "self-critical attitude towards power and the exercise of power," said Habeck on Friday at the start of the state party conference of the North Rhine-Westphalian Greens in a video greeting.

The Greens would have to fight for a new political culture.

The erosion of political confidence can only be countered if one strives to understand the other side.

The Greens should not only ensure majorities "in the extended Green milieu", but also address society as a whole.

On April 19, the Green Board wants to propose who of the party leaders Annalena Baerbock and Habeck should take over the candidacy for chancellor in the federal election on September 26.

The final decision will be made at the Green Party Congress from June 11th to 13th.

Habeck also warned the party against encroaching on personal liberties.

For example, the fight against the corona pandemic is »not a blueprint« for the fight against climate change.

"Such encroachments on civil liberties must not occur just because politicians are not doing their homework," said the 51-year-old Green politician.

"Radical political mistakes" were made in the corona pandemic, "said Habeck.

They already knew in autumn that the next corona wave was coming.

The current loss of confidence in the CDU / CSU and federal politics as a whole is dangerous for society.

The NRW Greens want to set up their state list for the federal election on September 26th from Friday to Sunday.
