"It's very good, here I have it in my hands," Salvador Romo, grandfather of the youngest among the disappeared, told Noticias Telemundo. Despite the intense search by air and land in Jalisco, the whereabouts of his mother, father, aunt and a 9-year-old cousin are still unknown.

Abandoned in a vacant lot and wrapped in a blanket.

This is how the authorities of the La Barca municipality, in Jalisco, Mexico, found the girl Julia Villaseñor Romo, 1 year and six months old, who was reported missing on March 24 along with four other members of her family, from who was last known when they passed through the municipality of Acatic when they returned from a vacation in Mexico City.

The Jalisco State Personnel Search Commission reported this Thursday that the little girl, the youngest among the disappeared, was found in good health and handed over to her grandfather Salvador Romo.

“It's very good, thank God.

They already reviewed it.

Here I have it in my hands, ”Romo told Noticias Telemundo.

"It is the principle of those who are missing."

Despite the fact that the search has been active for more than two weeks by land and air, there is no news from the rest of the family:

Jimena Romo Jiménez

, 24, of Mexican and American nationality (Julia's mother);

her husband,

Julio Villaseñor

(father of the girl), 35;

Virginia Villaseñor

(Julio's sister), 24;

and his 9-year-old son,

The five Guadalajara residents were traveling in a white 2019 Mazda pickup, but the vehicle has not yet been located.

Romo said that the girl was found after a complaint from a citizen.

The girl was completely alone in a vacant lot, wrapped in a blanket and with a cell phone.

"On a street in a vacant lot, a woman saw her as she passed by because she had a sign, a phone number of her paternal grandfather,"

said the grandfather.

It is unknown how the little girl got to the place.

The governor of the state of Jalisco, Enrique Alfaro, celebrated the appearance of the minor on Twitter, but said that the search for the rest of the family has not stopped.

“Without a doubt, this is very good news, but the investigations and search operations will continue to be active until they locate her father, mother, an aunt and another minor who were traveling in the same vehicle with Julia and who have not yet been his whereabouts are known, ”he wrote.

And he said that the operation has been extended to several municipalities in the state.

The Jalisco state prosecutor's office detained seven municipal police officers, allegedly involved in the disappearance.

Two of them had, since last March, arrest warrants for the forced disappearance of a person.

"Data were obtained that make the participation of some policemen here from the Acatic police station very likely in the disappearance of these people," Gerardo Octavio Solís, state prosecutor, said at a press conference on Sunday.

The last one to hear from the family was Salvador Romo, father of Jimena Romo Jiménez.

"They came from Mexico City and we realized because we were dialing them after 2:00 pm and they never answered us," Romo told Noticias Telemundo.

And he assured that he was in contact with her every day that he was in Mexico City and that he even saw them by video call.

“At no point did I notice that there was anything strange or something out of the ordinary.

So we suspect that they have disappeared on the way back to Guadalajara, "he said in statements collected by the SinEmbargo news portal.

Days before the disappearance of the Villaseñor family,

a man who has a working relationship with the disappeared was shot

, prosecutor Solís said.

The subject, who has not been identified, is hospitalized and will be questioned by the authorities in the coming days.

"We believe that this individual has important information for clarifying the facts and locating the disappeared persons," said Solís.
