The debate about the sale of the Kratzerwirt in Mitterlern is causing waves.

After the opinion of the Free Voters in our newspaper, in which they, among other things, raise allegations against Mayor Anton Scherer, his citizens' list (BBL) is now shooting back in a letter.

Berglern - "We expressly refuse to accuse the FWG that information was withheld from the public," said BBL parliamentary group leader Robert Krieger.

All new findings such as the emergency security have been announced publicly.

"Architectural competition, sale and later buyback, municipal council retreat, public presentation of the results of the retreat on the occasion of the village festival, visits to similar monuments, discussions in the municipal council and countless requests to speak in the citizens' assemblies could not find a sustainable and financially viable usage concept," emphasizes Krieger.

Anyone who seriously deals with the financial effects of a self-renovation by the municipality can only come to the conclusion that "the costs currently and will continue to exceed the financial budget." Krieger writes of a seven-digit amount for the renovation and a regular five- up to six-figure maintenance amounts.

As is well known, the local council has decided to commission a specialist agency specializing in the marketing of listed properties.

The council reserves the final decision whether to sell at all and to whom.

The decision was made against the votes of the FWG and ex-community chief Simon Oberhofer.

"Every community council that exercises its honorary mandate with common sense and foresight should come to the decision," said Krieger, "not to invest any community financial resources.

“One or the other newly elected council may not have the necessary experience here.” From the BBL's point of view, “one cannot first create a usage concept that naturally triggers desires in the population and then see whether this can be financed at all or not".

The FWG itself spoke of a solid financial policy in its election manifesto.

There are many compulsory tasks.

The only sensible solution for the preservation of the community monument is the renovation by an investor, whose usage concept forms the largest possible overlap with the ideas of the community.

“This is the only way in the short to medium term that an eyesore can be put to a use that we in Berglern can all be proud of,” said Krieger.

Democratic decisions have to be accepted.

“The FWG Berglern with Mayor Oberhofer - at that time FWG - had the opportunity to work out a solution for six years.

Unfortunately, nothing came of this, ”says Krieger mockingly.
