For people vaccinated against the virus, the same corona requirements apply to all others. Rhineland-Palatinate is now obtaining special rights for compulsory tests and trips abroad. Only a minority benefits.

With the start of the vaccination campaign, a debate about vaccination privileges began in Germany: Should people vaccinated against the coronavirus be exempted from corona restrictions in everyday life?

Rhineland-Palatinate will in future answer this question with: Yes.

In the federal state, exemptions from the obligation to test and the obligation to separate after entry from a risk area will apply to fully vaccinated persons.

The cabinet decided on Friday, as announced by the Ministry of Health in Mainz.

According to the recommendations of the Standing Vaccination Commission, anyone who received the second vaccination 14 days ago and has no typical symptoms of an infection with the coronavirus is currently considered fully vaccinated.

Proof of complete vaccination protection must be provided to the operators - for example, the providers of body-friendly services or outdoor restaurants - in writing or digitally.

This change will apply from Sunday and initially until April 25th.

Only a few people from Rhineland-Palatinate have benefited so far

The obligation to segregate roommates and contact persons after entry from a risk area no longer applies to fully vaccinated persons from Monday.

The prerequisite is that there are no symptoms of a coronavirus disease and that the entry did not come from an area with virus mutants.

This regulation is initially valid until May 10th.

This does not apply to patients and residents of inpatient facilities such as hospitals and nursing homes.

Many people are currently not affected: According to the Robert Koch Institute, five percent of Rhineland-Palatinate residents have received two vaccinations.

The ethics council last spoke out against special rights in February.

"At the present time, in the opinion of the Ethics Council, the individual withdrawal of state restrictions on freedom is forbidden because the possibility of the virus being spread by vaccinated people cannot be ruled out with sufficient certainty," the advisory body said.
