The main volcano of Saint-Vincent erupted this Friday morning, raising fears of significant damage on this small Caribbean island of nearly 100,000 inhabitants, while the evacuation of part of the population was underway.

At 8:41 am this morning (12:41 GMT) an explosive eruption started at the Soufrière volcano in Saint-Vincent.
This is the culmination of the seismic activity that began on April 8.
The eruption is underway,
