In the fight against Corona, the federal government is also relying on free rapid tests.

In addition to pharmacies and doctors, there are now two new contact points for all those willing to test at Tegernsee.

- Normally, the Medius in the Tegernsee spa garden specializes in keeping its customers fit and active.

In Corona times, however, operations in the fitness center are severely restricted, and only medically prescribed therapies may be administered.

Managing director Andreas Hasenknopf does not want to continue to stand by and watch what is happening - and has taken the initiative: he has opened a corona rapid test center in his Medius without further ado.

Here, citizens can have themselves tested for an infection with Covid 19 seven days a week without making an appointment - “practically in passing,” says Hasenknopf.

Premises and medical staff were already in place

With the support of the health department, the 45-year-old put his idea into practice within just two weeks.

Hasenknopf reports that the most important components of the concept were already present in the center, which specializes in medical fitness: medical staff for carrying out the tests, a medical director and, above all, spacious rooms.

"Of course we still had to deliver a hygiene concept and train our employees," explains the managing director.

But the new test center has been in operation since Thursday (April 8), the first 15 people were struck off on the first day - "all negative," reports Hasenknopf.

Medius boss hopes that the number of infections will finally drop

With his initiative - it is the first private test station away from pharmacies and doctors in the region - the Medius boss wants to help contain the pandemic.

He hopes that the number of infections will finally go down "and that people can do what they want again".

Corona test can be done on the way to shopping

He wants to make it as easy as possible for those willing to test.

"Everything runs automatically," says Hasenknopf.

After registering online at www.reihentestung.de, you will receive your personal QR code, which contains all the data and which is scanned in the test station from your mobile phone or a paper printout.

The test itself does not take more than half a minute, after which you will receive the result automatically by email.

“A test to go,” describes the 45-year-old.

In principle, this can be done on the way to the shop.

Medius test center: also an option for companies and schools?

Hasenknopf also wants to support regional companies and possibly schools, where tests are known to be mandatory from Monday (April 12).

The following scenario would be conceivable: Instead of testing themselves in school, the children and young people could have themselves tested in the Medius on Sunday and then present the negative result in their schools.

"But we still have to clarify that with the schools - something like that should go hand in hand," emphasizes Hasenknopf.

The new test center in the spa garden is open on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday and Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Every Saturday: The BRK Bad Wiessee is also testing from now on

In addition to the Medius, the Bad Wiessee Red Cross readiness team has recently entered the district-wide system of serial tests.

Starting this weekend, it will be offering quick tests in the disaster and relief center on Hügelweg in Bad Wiessee - every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., also after prior registration on reihentestung.de and without making an appointment.

“We want to ensure that we can offer the tests as widely as possible in the district,” says emergency manager Benedikt Dörder. It is also a pilot project for the BRK and its volunteers.

"We'll see how we get along," says Dörder with a view to the three-hour opening on Saturday.

If it turns out that other times - such as Sunday - are more popular with those willing to test, they will react flexibly.

It should be a small contribution on the way back to normal.
