The British government announced on April 9 new guidelines for British Nationals (Overseas) (BNO) visas, updating the content of family applications together, as well as the details of applicants' public welfare and police registration in the UK.

According to the new guidelines, the spouse or partner of a British national (overseas) holder and dependent children under the age of 18 can apply for visas separately under certain circumstances.

Although holders of British National (Overseas) status and related family members can travel to the UK separately, they generally need to apply for a visa together.

Within 48 hours after the main applicant applies, family members need to apply with the main applicant's application number.

The new guidelines list exceptions.

For example, the children born to the applicant while staying in the UK on a British National (Overseas) visa will be eligible for the same qualifications as their parents.

In addition, if a British national (overseas) holder is granted a visa and knows a new partner, as long as the new partner meets the requirements for a dependent partner, he can travel to the UK.

If one of the parents wants to settle in the UK first, and the other will bring their children to the UK, they can also apply separately.

The UK has updated the British National (Overseas) visa guidelines to specify the circumstances under which the applicant's spouse and children can apply for visas separately.

British national (overseas) status holders and family members do not receive public benefits during their stay in the UK, but the new guidelines state that if visa recipients are in a state of extreme poverty (destitute) or are at risk of extreme poverty, they can apply for relaxation of the regulations. Get public benefits.

The guidelines also update the conditions for police registration.

Originally holders of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passports, even if they have British National (Overseas) passports, must register with the police station.

The new guidelines state that holders of British National (Overseas) status do not need to register with the police station, including those who also hold a SAR passport.
