In the video: Double murder in Deir al-Assad: Two young men were shot dead (Walla NEWS system!)

On the morning after the double murder in Deir al-Assad, the residents tell of a very difficult and tense atmosphere.

"This is what the reception for Ramadan looks like, it's really sad," one of the residents of the settlement said this morning (Saturday).

The details of the case show that one of the dead, 23-year-old Hafez Sanallah, who is believed to have been the target of the shooting, was working on the family skewer as two unknown individuals got out of the vehicle and approached the business and started firing in all directions.

They fled and then the vehicle in which they were traveling was located while on fire in the village of Majd al-Krum.

The indiscriminate shot also fatally injured a relative of his, Ali Sanallah, 20. The two later died of their wounds.

Hafez got married last September, and expected to become a father soon.

Two children, aged 10 and 13, relatives of the two killed, one of them Hafez's nephew, were also hit by the shrapnel.

At that time, several other people dined at the place.

"It is a very difficult event, but it could have been much worse, more people could have been killed here," said a local resident.

"Whoever did this has no heart and no conscience. The weapon does not detect who it is hitting. Only by a miracle the two children were not killed," he added.

Shots were fired at the skewer about a year ago, so one person was injured.

This fact reinforces the hypothesis that this is probably a conflict between criminals.

In the neighboring locality, Ba'ana, there is an ongoing bloody conflict during which people have been murdered in the last seven years.

A resident of Deir al-Assad said there was no direct connection between the cases, but he believes the same figures are involved in the gruesome acts.

"It's like a cobweb - these criminals are everywhere," he said.

The locality believes that he was the target of the shooting.

A resident of the locality said that in Deir al-Assad, as in many Arab localities in Israel, people are afraid to leave their homes at night and do not allow their children to go outside.

"No one sleeps at night in Deir al-Assad," said a local resident, "but even on other nights the people do not feel safe here. At night it is best to stay closed inside the house and if you are already out, then you should stay away from the village. There is no peace and no security."

However, Nasser Sanallah, who was the head of the local council until a few years ago and a relative of the murdered, said that since a murder case that occurred about 15 years ago, the settlement has been quiet and criminal conflicts have not reached the scene.

He said that the background to last night's difficult event is unknown and he believes that there will be no deterioration and peace in the settlement will be maintained.

The bodies of the two dead were sent for autopsy at the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Abu Kabir and the dates of their funerals are still unknown.
