Over 14 million euros: That is why Miesbach wants to invest a record amount this year

Miesbach - The Miesbach household for the current year is record breaking. With a total of 50.2 million euros, it is the second highest in the city's history. Only in 2017 was it higher at 51.3 million euros. That was due to the unexpectedly high income at the time. This time it's the other way around.

Miesbach - The Miesbach household for the current year is record breaking.

With a total of 50.2 million euros, it is the second highest in the city's history.

Only in 2017 was it higher at 51.3 million euros.

That was due to the unexpectedly high income at the time.

This time it's the other way around.

The record level of investments - at 14.7 million euros, a new high for Miesbach - is driving the total budget upwards.

The fact that the city undertakes so many projects is not exactly voluntary.

Some construction work has been pending for years, but is only now being implemented.

For a variety of reasons.

The renovation of the elementary and middle school alone accounts for 3.5 million.

As reported, the loft conversion is pending for the latter.

It strikes at 2.1 million euros.

An additional EUR 955,000 is required for fire protection at the primary school.

As reported, the advertised services had to be canceled at the end of 2019 due to a lack of or overpriced offers.

This year it should now work with the implementation.

Children's home is on the timetable

The conversion of the old monastery into a children's home is part of the race.

3.3 million euros are budgeted for this.

The plans were recently presented to the city council and approved.

Operations are scheduled to start there in September 2022.

Road construction has been a constant topic in the district town for years.

As early as May 2020, the city council gave the green light for the renovation of Frauenschulstrasse.

The sewer and roadway should be prepared for 1.36 million euros including ancillary costs.

Unfortunately, the necessary subsoil investigation was not yet completed at that time.

The result is now available - work begins.

The costs for this are over two million euros, with 660,000 euros earmarked for securing the slope.

The start is now in spring.

Due to the winter-related interruption, completion is expected around June 2022.

The next major project is in sight

One major construction site is not yet fully on the plan: the new construction of the warm outdoor pool.

The four million project is planned for 2022.

This year, planning and preparation costs 386,000 euros.

In addition, the waterworks account for 1.5 million euros, 825,000 euros for broadband expansion, 207,000 euros for the town hall, 146,000 euros for the Waitzinger cellar and 125,000 euros for the children's playgrounds.

The city cannot catch up with the investment backlog of recent years with just one mammoth year.

Mayor Gerhard Braunmiller (CSU) knows that too: “We cannot do everything this year.” This year, the focus is on compulsory tasks such as school, mobility and infrastructure.

The outdoor swimming pool and flood protection in Kleinthal, which is also estimated at four million euros, are planned as the next projects.

"A lot happens in Miesbach."

High debt - low interest

The district town is accommodating the low interest rates of recent years, which prevented the cost of interest from climbing despite rising debts.

On the contrary: if in 2012 it was 982,442 euros, it will probably be just 474,000 euros in 2021.

In the same period, the debt increases from 23.4 to 28.3 million euros.

Nevertheless, Chamberlain Josef Schäffler recently urged caution in the finance committee and warned against taking the debt too lightly in view of the low interest rates.

One should not lose sight of the repayment and thus the long-term efficiency of the city.
