At a time when many things are different, the sponsoring association for youth and social work (TVJA) must also break new ground in order to be able to listen carefully.

For this reason, an online survey among young people was carried out with the support of the Office for Youth and Family.

The TVJA wanted to know how much the effects of the corona pandemic are affecting young people.

Geretsried - Due to bureaucratic obstacles, the survey was not carried out at the secondary schools in the social area Mitte, which includes the towns of Geretsried, Königsdorf and Dietramszell, according to TVJA managing director Rudi Mühlhans in a press release.

Instead, it took place on the Internet from February 17th to March 15th.

The aim of the survey was to “take a holistic view of the living situation of young people”.

A total of 323 people took part.

236 of them answered all questions completely - they form the basis of the evaluation.

The gender structure is divided into 122 female, 98 male and 3 diverse participants.

Mühlhans: “A total of 52 percent of them live in the social area in the middle.” Very many of the respondents attend the Realschule and Gymnasium in Geretsried or comparable schools in other places.

"Participants from special schools and secondary schools are either completely absent or are severely underrepresented."

They experience massive restrictions in the areas of friends, leisure time, school, society and politics and mostly feel negative effects in these areas from the corona restrictions.

Many young people say that the pandemic is having "massive effects" on their lives.

"You are experiencing massive restrictions in the areas of friends, leisure time, school, society and politics," says Mühlhans, "and the majority of them feel the negative effects of the Corona restrictions in these areas."

Companions in lockdown: cell phone, laptop, television

Media consumption increased by 71 percent of those surveyed.

The majority gave a value of one to five hours.

69 percent of all respondents are satisfied with the support they receive from teachers during homeschooling.

Almost half of the participants stated that they had increased physical complaints such as headaches and back pain as a result of homeschooling.

At the time of the survey, a large number of young people stated that they would like schools to open up.

"Those who speak a different mother tongue at home often justify this with the fact that they can learn German better there."

Another result that stands out: 95 percent of those surveyed are very important or important to the family.

"A ray of hope in these challenging times for everyone," says Mühlhans.

In order to convey the voice of the respondents to the outside world, the survey results will be transmitted to the parties represented in the state parliament, the youth ring and cooperation partners of the TVJA, announced the managing director.

They should also be published on the website www.jugendarbeit-geretsried.de and via social media channels.

Two young men report

Two young men who do not want to read their name in the newspaper report how they experience the Corona period.

“In lockdown, I was mostly at home and gambled.

Much more than usual. What should you do?

Sometimes I met with a friend.

I'm happy that the juice shop is open again and that we can meet here, ”said the 18-year-old, who is currently unemployed.

A 21-year-old man who is a painter by profession also describes his experiences: “During the lockdown and due to Corona, there were many changes in the circle of friends. Some friendships have broken up. The circles have changed, but other friendships have become more intense. I've mainly met the same two or three people. Sometimes more at the beginning, in groups of three or four, but it was too risky. There were more penalties, I know some that had to pay. When we met, we usually just hung out together and drank a lot of alcohol. But I would say no more than usual. Sometimes we also went somewhere, for example to Blomberg or Lake Starnberg. ”He continues:“ I've seen so many relationships break down in my environment. I think that's because of the lack of balance. You just can't do anything, just work, sleep. What do you want to do? You have nowhere to go, everything is closed, you can't even go for a coffee. In terms of mood, everything is there that you can imagine. In the last few weeks I have become much more listless and tired. A lot has happened privately as well, ”reports the 21-year-old. “Now I'm living with my mother again. It's better than being alone, I get along better that way. I'm not worried about work, as painters we always have something to do. I've had a lot of work in the last few months. ”And further:“ The positive thing about it all is that you also have more time for yourself and sometimes less stress. Before that I was in many clubs. There are always meetings. You have to go somewhere, so many people, that can also be stressful. But still: Corona is annoying, it will continue to be the same this year. I'm glad the juice shop is open again. I saw it on Instagram, it's good to be back here and meet people. "
