The Ministry of Information mourned the researcher and journalist Fuad Balat, who died this morning at the age of 81.
And through a rich, varied and rich media march over more than half a century, the deceased played a major role in the development of Syrian radio, television and media.
The deceased was born in the city of Al-Mayadin in the Deir Ezzor Governorate in 1940, he received his primary education in al-Mayadeen, middle and high school in Aleppo and continued his studies at the University of Damascus, where he studied in the Faculties of Economics and Arts, from which he obtained a BA in English literature in 1972 and also studied political science at the University of Heidberg in Germany 1962-1965 .
The deceased began his journey with the media as an editor at Al-Ishtaraki newspaper in 1968, and he was one of the contributors to the establishment of the Union of Syrian Journalists and served as Secretary of the Union.
During his work in the press, he held many positions, including the editor-in-chief of the People's Army magazine, the deputy editor-in-chief of Al-Thawra newspaper, the director of the Syrian Arab TV, the general director of the Public Authority for Radio and Television, the director of the Radio and TV Training Center, and an assistant to the Minister of Information.
Ballat also worked as a consultant for several bodies and vice-president of the National Media Council, and was elected a member of the World Federation of Journalists conference, a member of the World Radio and Television Union, and a member of the permanent council of the Arab Journalists Union for twenty years.
The late participated in many local, Arab and international conferences and wrote in a large number of local, Arab and international newspapers and magazines and gave several lectures in the fields of journalism, politics and media inside and outside Syria.
