The fact that you run into the shopkeeper's dog while shopping is nothing new.
In Gabriele Gaube's medical supply store in Isen, however, the customer is greeted by a cheeky sparrow.

- Business owner Gaube found the house sparrow last summer.
“It must have fallen out of the nest and hardly had any feathers,” she recalls.
But the little sparrow didn't just have to be fed with special food;
his thigh was broken.
Gaube drove the little bird to a bird veterinarian in Unterhaching several times to have him operated.
“His little legs didn't grow together correctly, but that doesn't bother him,” says Gaube.
"It is now probably the most expensive sparrow in the world."
A stroke of luck for the injured bird
The fact that Gaube, of all people, took on the little bird was a stroke of luck for the animal.
Because the shop owner is a bird expert who is also happy to be contacted by the wild bird department of the animal shelter in Riem.
In her garden there is an aviary in which she raises young crows, and she has also nursed a mistletoe back to health.
At the moment, "Flori", as Gaube christened the sparrow, shares his home with three cats, two rabbits and a dog.
The dog and a cat are also not entirely healthy and need special treatment.
“Anyone can keep healthy animals,” says Gaube.
“Flori” will soon be released into the wild
Of course, she will not keep "Flori".
When it is warm enough, the animal lover wants to begin to release it carefully.
She is already getting used to the sparrow to other birds, by the hour he comes into a cage inside the crow aviary.
Until then, the little sparrow will occasionally assist in the shop.
"People are delighted when he sits on their shoulder and then keep very still while measuring," says Gaube.
If the little sparrow is tired, he cuddles in the crook of Gaube's arm when she is working on the computer.
The tame sparrow can't stand when Gaube goes into the next room.
Then it flutters right after it.
He is allowed to flutter in the shop and in the bathroom
He is not only allowed to fly freely in the shop, in her apartment “Flori” has the entire bathroom to herself.
He also visits her husband's auto repair shop regularly, so that he can sit down on the shoulders or heads of his favorite people again and again.
“My husband says that some people have a bird in their head, I have mine on my head,” says Gaube and laughs.
