The industrialists of Damascus and its countryside emphasized the need for the cooperation of various parties to overcome obstacles that hinder the progress of work and production, ensure the continuity of enterprises and invest their energies to supply the local market with products and export the surplus to foreign markets, limit imports and support the capabilities of the national economy.
During the meeting of the General Authority of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, the participants called for achieving the principle of partnership between the public and private sectors in taking decisions and discussing laws, such as a draft consumer protection law that was not discussed with the industrialists and a copy of it did not reach the industrial chambers. From all food, chemical, engineering and textile sectors.
A number of industrialists pointed to the necessity of securing energy carriers to ensure the continuation of the industrial facilities and to address the issue of validity of the label for raw materials, especially chemical ones.
Assistant Minister of Industry, Eng. Bashar Zaghloula, confirmed during the meeting that the draft amendment to Law 21 of 1958 to organize and encourage industry is under discussion and preparation in addition to the draft Industrial Development Law, stressing the need to unite efforts to contribute to securing local goods and products for citizens with simple profit margins, especially with the approaching month of Ramadan. .
For his part, the head of the Damascus Chamber of Industry and its countryside, Samer al-Dibs, drew attention to the great efforts made by the chamber in cooperation with the government to overcome the repercussions of the unjust blockade and unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on Syria, in addition to the global economic recession resulting from the continuing effects of the Corona pandemic and the increase in freight wages.
