An alternative award was given to Prof. Goldreich: "We will fight the delegitimization of the left"
At a ceremony at the Weizmann Institute, the professor at the heart of the storm said that Galant's position, which sought to deprive him of the Israel Prize, was part of an ongoing process of incitement in Israeli society.
"No decision by the Minister of Education will stop us - we will win to turn the left from a minority into a majority"

Prof. Oded Goldreich received an alternative award today (Sunday) at a ceremony at the Weizmann Institute, after he was denied the Israel Award due to his political views.
Goldreich attacked Education Minister Yoav Galant's refusal to award him the prize in mathematics and computer science, claiming that it was part of an ongoing process of incitement against the left in Israel.
"This affair has not been on me for a long time. It is bigger than me and affects us all," Goldreich clarified.
"The position of the Minister of Education is just another small step in an ongoing process of de-legitimization of the left in Israel. We are determined to fight this de-legitimization process, and I am glad that we have fallen into the trap of trying and contributing directly to this struggle."
