The answers to the most important questions in the overview.

Munich - The Easter holidays in the Free State are drawing to a close.

Lessons will start again in Bavaria on Monday - with one important change: There is a compulsory test for participation in face-to-face lessons, regardless of the incidence. * You can find an overview of the rules announced by Prime Minister Markus Söder here.

But how will all of this work in concrete terms in Bavaria's schools?

All important questions and answers in the overview.

Do all students go back to school after the holidays?

No.

The regulations are still based on the infection situation in the respective region.

Friday is always the deadline for the next week.

Full face-to-face teaching - even without a minimum interval - takes place in primary schools anyway.

And only if the incidence is below 50. If the incidence is between 50 and 100, the minimum distance rules also apply to primary school students, which, as in the other grades, usually leads to the division of classes and alternating lessons.

If the value is over 100, all receive distance lessons.

The only exceptions to this are the final grades of all types of schools, the fourth grades about to be transferred, and the eleventh grade at grammar schools and technical colleges.

For them there are face-to-face lessons with a minimum interval or alternate lessons.

Schools in Bavaria: an overview of the corona rules - who has to be tested?

Who does the new compulsory test apply to?

All pupils who are in the school building - regardless of whether they are in class, in alternation or in emergency care - will in future have to do a self-test * twice a week or present a current negative PCR or rapid test.

With an incidence of over 100, this may be the case even more often, depending on the teaching model.

What about the teachers?

Teachers and other school staff also have to test themselves twice a week.

But you can also do this at home.

What happens if someone refuses to test?

The school will then seek a conversation with the student or the parents.

If the rejection remains, compulsory schooling can be fulfilled by taking advantage of offers in distance learning or distance learning;

there is no entitlement to certain offers.

The rules at a glance - how does the test work?

And what if someone has a positive result?

The person has to "isolate himself", as it is called in official German, so first be isolated in another room and - if possible - be picked up by the legal guardian or sent home.

However, since a positive self-test does not necessarily mean an infection * because of the error rate, a PCR test should be carried out afterwards.

The classmates who tested negative can usually continue to attend lessons for the time being.

How do the tests work?

Three different self-tests are currently being used in schools.

The central point for all of them is that you stick a cotton swab about two centimeters deep into your nose and wipe off secretions, which are then analyzed with a test solution.

Can first graders do it themselves?

Some parents and teachers doubt that.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the test is designed in such a way that even younger people can use it “easily, without risk and without pain”.

“It cannot be compared with the rapid test that a doctor carries out and that goes deep into the nose,” emphasized Piazolo.

Teachers can use words or video to guide students, but they do not conduct the tests themselves.

How quickly do you get the result?

When are the tests done and how quickly do you get the result?

As a rule, the self-tests should be carried out in the classroom at the beginning of the class day.

The test itself takes about 5 minutes, after a further 15 minutes the result can be read.

How do the tests get to the schools?

The schools are provided with the tests by their local government authorities. With two tests per week for all students and teachers, 4.1 million tests are required per week.

According to Pizaolo, the Free State has already delivered 17.6 million tests.

The Ministry of Health, which is responsible for procurement, also sees the following requirements being met, which vary depending on the infection situation and the teaching model.

Between May and the end of July, 69 million tests would still be delivered to schools, according to the dpa request.
