In a room with a bed in a beit midrash: Rabbi Netanel Deri was convicted of sexually assaulting his students
Deri was convicted of committing sodomy and indecent acts on 3 of his students, while assuring them of a match between one of his daughters.
The court sentenced the rabbi to 6 years and 10 months in prison, as well as compensation of NIS 150,000 for the complainants against him.

The Lod District Court this evening (Sunday) convicted 39-year-old Rabbi Netanel Deri, who sexually assaulted, over the years, some of his teenage students at the beit midrash where he teaches in the city.
According to the plea agreement, the rabbi will be sentenced to six years and ten months in prison and will be required to compensate the complainants in the amount of NIS 150,000.
Rabbi Deri was convicted of sodomy for a minor under 16 years of age, sodomy with a minor over 16, indecent act on a minor under 16, indecent act and other sexual offenses committed by three of his students, in some cases the offenses were committed for years, when the students were 17 years old. -13.
The Central District Attorney's Office, which filed the indictment, stated that the plea agreement included only minor changes to the facts of the indictment, and did not include changes in the offenses attributed to it, and was signed with the boys' consent.

According to the indictment, Deri, a rabbi and community leader in Lod, runs a beit midrash and gives Torah lessons to the community members and their children there.
In the beit midrash there is a room where he taught Torah lessons, among other things, to the complainants as well.
From the study there is access to an inner room with a bed, which was used by the accused for rest, in which he sexually assaulted the complainants.
During Torah lessons, on various occasions, Deri committed sexual offenses with the complainants in the inner room, stating to them that their proximity to him would give them high status and that he would marry one of his daughters.
