The start of the second stage of the Sardinha Cup, an event on the Figaro Bénéteau circuit, was given this Sunday at 5:12 p.m. off Saint-Gilles-Croix-de-Vie in a north wind of 15-20 knots.
The duo Philippe Hartz / Benoît Hochart (Marine Nationale-Fondation de la Mer) crossed the 5 Pineaux buoy, the first course mark, in the lead.
The 21 tandems set off for 775 miles, with a round trip to the Isles of Scilly in England.
This stage, the longest ever in a foiling Figaro-Bénéteau 3, should last five days.
And it will be an excellent rehearsal before the double-handed Transat which is due to start on May 9 from Concarneau to Saint-Bart.
